4th of July

Well we went to fireworks this year, but it was a pre-show so it was a bit smaller than their big show the following day. Being that Nathaniel had never seen fireworks before we were a bit nervous, but he did great. The noise did not bother him and he loved the lights in the sky!! He was a little upset when they were finished and began to voice his objection, but we headed for home and Grandma entertained him for the trip. So all was good!

Cleaning Machine

Well, eventhough it is summer, I am finding myself very busy! Surprise surprise!!! So I have enlisted the help of my new cleaning machine, Nathaniel. He loves to sweep everything, the hall the wall, mom or dad... Though we need to get him a his size cleaning set, because several times we have thought that he has put a hole in the wall!! He is also getting very good at putting his clothes in the laundry basket and helping pick up his toys. All for fun of course because next thing I know he has taken all his clothes out of the laundry basket or had brought every book from his room into the living room!! He is having fun and is prefecting his walking/running. He sometimes gets going too fast and falls as he attempts to round corners, but it is all a learning process.

Swimming Pool

Grandpa Cornthwaite was nice enough to buy Nathaniel a pool. Nathaniel is taking swim lessons this summer with mom and has taken to water like a fish. He absolutely LOVES swimming around and now, as of today, likes going under water. Anyway, we decided to get the pool out, well we filled it up before his afternoon nap, hoping to swim a bit before dinner.

He got up, we got him ready, went to take him outside and it was sprinkling!!!! Not good for a toddler that has learned what a swimming suit is for! He was not the happiest camper. We will try again another day, we have a long summer ahead of us.

The Zoo!!!

You would think that with the summer off, I would be faster at getting events posted to the blog. But Nathaniel and I are keeping busy.
We went to the Brookfield zoo with our friends the Brees. We had so much fun. It was also the first time for me and I was amazed at some of the exhibits.
Here Nathaniel is looking back at mom, while watching the Zebras.

At the giraffe look out Nathaniel got out and walked around a bit. Here he is with his friend Olivia.

Along with walking around, Nathaniel found out that he can climb!! He has started to attempt to climb on the couch at home. Practice makes perfect!!

Here is Nathaniel and Dad looking back at mom for a photo.

It was so cool, this alligator was laying right next to the glass. Nathaniel really enjoyed looking at it, though a couple of times he attempted to pound on the glass.

Looking at the past year

As summer approaches I sit and think about what my last summer break was like! Wow it seems so long ago and so much has changed. So then I got to looking at some old pictures of the boy and realized how fast he is growing and is going to grow. So I decided to give a chance for all that read this to reminisce of days gone by.

1st year pictures!

Went to a new place to get our 1 year pictures. It was so fun, the bad thing was that we had to choose from about 50 photos!!! These are what we decided on. He did great, as always. He is starting to get a bit shy around strangers, though, so it did take some time to warm up to the photographer.

Here I am with my best friend Olivia. We had so much fun getting our pictures taken.

1st Birthday - finally!

Well, Nathaniel has made it to his first birthday! We are so proud of him in all that he has learned and taught us! He is now starting to walk and sounds as though we may have some words starting to appear. He is a big 'dada' boy and likes to say 'mama' when eating.
Another year is underway and we are hoping for it to be as fun and exciting as the first!!!
The Birthday Boy with Grandma Cornthwaite!
Not so sure what to do with his cake at first but then . . .
He went to town!
Don't think that he actually ate much of it,
but he did end up having some fun poking it.

Opening some presents!

Got a lot of great things that Nathaniel is loving!!!

The setup. The balloons, cake and candy bars did not last long,

but the Mylar dinosaur lasted for about 1 1/2 weeks!!!!
